This course will look at the key principles of GDPR and what the aims of the legislation are. It will look at the legal responsibilities that businesses have to comply with.

Units covered

  • Unit 1 – Introduction to Data Protection – In our first unit we will be looking at what data protection is and what the legal responsibilities of companies are, it will also look at the updated Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Unit 2 – The Key Principles of GDPR – In this unit we will be looking at what GPDP is and the overarching aims, it will also look at the 12 step process businesses can use to show they are compliant to GDPR.
  • Unit 3 – Extracting, Processing and Storing Data – This unit will look at how GDPR links to data and what the legal requirements are for organisations. It will also consider the ways to safely store data.
  • Unit 4 – The Rights of Individuals – This unit will look at what individuals’ rights are in regards to data, as well as how people can object to having their data stored.
  • Unit 5 – Responsibilities of Data Controllers – In our final unit we will be exploring what the responsibilities of data controllers are. We will also look at the importance of applying with appropriate levels of data security and what can happen if companies don’t comply with these.
