Glen Moray 2008 13 Year Old Manzanilla Cask, Warehouse 1
Following the extremely well received 2005 Tokaji and 2008 Barolo releases, Glen Moray are excited to present the final release of Warehouse 1’s inaugural year of bottlings.
This expression was distilled in 2008 and matured for over 13 years, first in ex-Bourbon casks before being transferred into four ex-Manzanilla Sherry casks for finishing. The result is a whisky with a fresh and evocative opening of sweet ripe pears, green apples and freshly cut grass, before herbal tea and oak spice notes create a luxurious finish.
The bottling is once again offered at cask strength, non-chill-filtered and in natural colour.
Limited to 1240 bottles
Tasting notes:
Nose: Initially very soft, evoking sweet ripe pears, green apples and fresh cut grass. Lively and vibrant with background hints of camomile tea.
Palate: Notes of clean fruit are soon enveloped and eventually give way to drier oak spices. A luxurious mouthfeel entices you back in for more where you find some of the herbal tea-like characteristics that were present on the nose.
Finish: Long and lingering with savoury, almost salty flavours as expected from Manzanilla.
