Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 5
Kilkerran is derived from the gaelic 'Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain' which is the name of the original settlement where Saint Kieran had his religious cell and Campbeltown now stands.
Kilkerran is thought to be a suitable name for a new malt since it was unusual for the old Campbeltown distilleries to be called after a glen, a custom more usually associated with the Speyside region.
Nose: Sweet, sooty peat smoke kicks off this malt, reminiscent of toasting marshmallows on a beach campfire. This combines with a maritime influence typical of Campbeltown whisky, with notes of salt and fishing creels.
Palate: The ash and soot from the nose is immediately apparent on the palate, along with digestive biscuits. This is balanced with sweet hints of fruit salad sweets, foam bananas and red apples.
Finish: Hints of red fruits and mineral notes round off this malt.
